Duty to Provide Hope
Nurses and health care professionals continue to transform the shopping-focused Black Friday into Backpack Friday—a tradition of providing care and dignity to families and individuals experiencing homelessness in downtown LA’s Skid Row neighborhood. In effort to aid the homeless population and attempt to restore their often times lost sense of decency due to noticeably dire hygienic issues. Highly Favored: A Blessing to Others volunteer ambassadors collectively spend hundreds of hours to assemble and distribute care packages.
Highly Favored: A Blessing To Others hosts four main events a year.
-Backpack Friday thousands of backpacks filled with essentials items and services delivered on Skid Row. Thanksgiving Meal.
-Christmas Toy and Jacket drive for homeless children at the Good Shepherd Center Mentorship, Toys, Wishlist items and new jackets given to the children at the shelter. Brunch Served.
-Mother’s Day event for the Good Shepard Center. Mother’s Day gift baskets, enrichment activities, and brunch.
-Memorial Day BBQ event at the US Veteran Shelter in Inglewood to provide care packages, health education, and Blood pressure screening.
We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions are deductible for Federal Income Tax Purposes to the extent permitted under Section 170(b)(2) for corporations.
